Our Mission
The Upper Manhattan Mental Health
Center, Inc., (also known as the Emma L. Bowen Community Center) is a 501
(C) (3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to enable individuals and
families, regardless of age, to efficiently and productively meet the many
challenges within today's scope of "problems of living" by
providing comprehensive community services in a caring environment.
Our Center
A staff of over 160
healthcare providers includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse
practitioners, social workers, vocational rehab counselors and case
managers. We have been delivering the highest level of care to the
residents of Northern Manhattan for over a decade. In handling more than
100,000 client visits annually, our bilingual staff focuses on the "whole
person" as well as the stresses that contribute to an individual's
problem. We serve a culturally diverse range of clients from preschool
children to senior citizens.
Our Practice
The foundation of our care plan is a
complete psychosocial evaluation. Based on this, we develop a plan for
specialized treatment with input from the client, and when appropriate the
client's family. And, we offer a broad spectrum of treatment options for
problems ranging from relatively minor emotional conditions to persistent
mental illness.
